March 14 is known as Pi Day. The date, 3/14, resembles the mathematical number Pi of 3.14, so we’ve crafted a whole day around it. It’s not like we really needed a reason to enjoy some delicious pie, but if you’re looking for an excuse, this is it! So here are some great places to celebrate in Oregon City.
Lil’ Cooperstown
This bar and grill is well known in local circles, as it’s a popular hangout to catch a game while enjoying top notch food. On the dessert menu you’ll find a devilishly delicious mud pie. It’s layers of ice cream on an Oreo cookie crust. Their current flavors rotate as well, so you’ll always have a new bit of delectability to try.
Oregon City Grill
Almost as well known as the “Is a hotdog a sandwich?” debate is the “Is cheesecake really a pie?” debate. For today’s purposes, we’re going with yes, it’s pie. And as such, Oregon City Grill has you covered with no less than four options. Choose from the traditional New York style, chocolate truffle, mixed berry or white chocolate raspberry. Never in the history of the world has a choice been so difficult.
Wild Hare Saloon
The Wild Hare Saloon is a popular spot in Oregon City both for its food and for its entertainment. One thing that could be considered both is their warm apple pie. It’s an incredible dessert that is as American as… well, you get it.
Highland Still House
The Highland Stillhouse is well known for their incredible fish and chips – a dish done with such English authenticity that people have been known to attempt to drive on the left side of the road after leaving. Okay, perhaps a slight exaggeration, but not much of one.
Be sure to save room for dessert, because they have a Homemade Bourbon Pecan Pie that is so decadent that it should be illegal. It’s served warm and gooey, and goes perfectly with the scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side.
Pie doesn’t just have to be of the dessert variety. Of course pizza is considered a type of pie, and of course we’ve got you covered there if that’s more your style to celebrate today.
Mi Famiglia
Mi Famiglia is a mainstay in downtown Oregon City. Their menu is filled with all sorts of delicious options, but their hand-tossed brick oven pizza is the star here. One bite and you’ll quickly know why.
Jimmy O’s Pizzeria
The traditional locally-owned pizza joint, Jimmy O’s has been the go-to spot for families seemingly forever. From the traditional pepperoni to more specialty options like the chicken pesto, everyone can be happy having dinner, or lunch here.
Bugatti’s
Bugatti’s is a traditional Italian restaurant in Oregon City. The menu is filled with favorites, but be sure to give the pizza a try. You can build your own or choose from a wide variety of options that fit any palate.
